I don't have any figures with me, but the combo isn't extremely rare. I appraise cars, so let me give you some advice: rarity means NOTHING as far as value goes. If you have the only one in existence and no one cares about it, value is still low. popularity drives value more than anything else, and no AMCs are really popular. The AMX and Javelin are reasonably popular/recognizable to the general public, so they do garner a reasonable value when compared to similar models, but lag a good bit behind. I'm sure someone has the figures for 343 four speed Rebels just for your enjoyment though. The 343 was the biggest AMC V-8 in early 68, the 390 was introduced in the spring of calendar year 1968 (I don't havethe exact date handy, sure someone does!), well into model year production. Four speeds weren't real popular then, so there probably weren't a lot of that combo produced. That 343 will have 10:1 compression, so you'll likely have to run premium, though you might be able to de-tune it for mid-grade without losing to much power. Sounds like you have a great, enjoyable car. The only reason to restore any car is for the enjoyment of the car and work. Rarely will you ever get your money back. If you do, it's parts/materials you get back, your labor would be practically free. If you need a site to post some pics for free go to http://groups.msn.com/amcsforever2. Some pics now with occasional updates as you progress would be nice! Like I have on my site (farnas ramblers on the site above). On April 4, 2005 Gary Parente wrote: > I am new to the list.
