headlight knob

I'm trying to remove the facia from my Donohue so I can get to the crash pad
screws and I can't get the headlight knob off. I don't want to break it so
I'm asking if there is a trick to get this off. Also, has anyone tried to
reglue the crash pad with any luck? The vinyl is still pliable when warm,
so I was going to try some contact cement and clamps to get it back into
shape.
I got the front seats recovered for my birthday present from my wife, (I
think I'll keep her), and while they're out I want to clean up the rest.
The seat covers are from legendary and look very nice, but are not really
correct for a concourse restoration. There are several small details which
differ from the original, but in my car will be just fine, at least until I
win the lottery to rebuild it.
Any help with the headlight knob will be appreciated.
Thanks
