According to Ron Hallack the 250 is same block as the 140/170/200 and has the cast in head intake and same bell, but the 240/300 (mainly a truck engine, with the 240 also used in full size cars -- never saw a 300 in anything but a truck!) is a different block with the Ford small block bolt pattern.
