I am not sure when or if AMC factory used these T-3s, might have been before 1964 or so. I am unsure of the T-3s manufacturer ( GE?), BUT this head light was used by GM in ALL their cars, at least in the 60s. These were also available over the counter at parts stores, and I have found a few in AMCs over the years. I know that AMC used "TS" head lights from about 1964 up to 1978 or so. TS stands for Tungsal ( spelling?) the supposed manufacture of these lights. If you look at the 6 o'clock position of a light, you would see what looks to be a "globe", the TS is in this. I showed this to Fred Koos who knew nothing of these details of AMCs and Fred went on a binge and found and installed them in his 64 Classic. Fords use them too, but they had a fine FORD with their oval some how printed on the center of the glass, AMCs had no markings to state whether they were AMC, or one you could buy over the counter. They are also DATE CODED, on the back , how ever this printing is very fine, and can "brush" of if disturbed. To the serious restorer, these correct date coded lights can bring good money, and there are no repros for AMC. The T-3 is reproduced because of the demand from GM enthusiast. Andre " A.J." Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2005 08:20:41 -0800 Based on my experience with my 3000 mile 66 American, the headlamps were T3 (Sylvania I think), at least in 1966. I noticed on a Corvette site, that a vendor wanted $120 for a pair of T3 sealed beams. I guess I'll hang on to mine. One of the Americans I parted out due to rust issues was a 68 with 43,000 miles onit and it had on T3 sealed beam in it! Darned thing was burned out though!
