Cliff, go to the junkyard and get a pre 96 Ford Taurus fan. You're looking for a car with the two speed (three wire) fan. You will likely have to trim the shroud way down, but should have more room between a V-8 and the radiator than I did with my six. But I trimmed all the mounting structure off with a jig saw then bought an electric fan re-mount kit from AutoZone, the kind that mounts the fan with zip tie like strips through the raidator core. All I did was drill 1/8" holes in the edge of the shroud where they were needed. The fan will "hang" slightly away from the radiator until the high speed kicks in. Then it pulls so much air that is literally sucks up tight to the radiator! I use an adjustable electric thremostat with a probe that mounts against the core, also an AutoZone special. I think that fan was only on AC cars, and may have been in a HD cooling package or certain parts of the country. I've seen some AC cars without the two speed fan. The single speed should wor! k fine, I just like the high speed on the one I have. When I get the AC working I'm going to wire the low speed into the AC and have the high speed kick on with the thermostat. Not sure it will kick into high unless it's extremely hot/humid here in Dover. My other thought was to use two thermostats. I run a stock 71 Javelin radiator 3-core and hi-flow mechanical water pump.
