Re: carb interchange

A: I have the carb off the '85 XJ my son pulled the motor from. We switched
it to TBI. Before changing the carb though, try crossing #1 and #4 plug
wires, with the aircleaner lid off, then start it and quick rev it a couple
times to make it backfire. That blows out any dirt causing trouble in yours.
(we had to do that twice with this one)

The Carb on my 85 Wagoneer with the 2.5l is really messed up and getting
worse. I have tried to get a Weber but it has been backordered since
November and now I think I want to go with something a little less
pricey. I want a plain ole carb with no elec hookups except an elec
choke (which I can add) and wonder if any one on the list knows what
might interchange with the mounting base and the linkage. I don't know
if a 199 carb would bolt in or not. Looking for a solution that won't
take a week of tinkering and 10 trips for little parts to make work. Any
ideas?

Thanks

Wayne
