I believe that the number of grooves cut into the input shaft will indicate the ratio of first gear. If both input shafts have the same number of grooves, then they should have the same ratio. I think 2.23:1 is, by far the most common. I've been out of the AMC thing for awhile, so my recollection is a bit fuzzy. I'm slowly joining in again.
