Re: Identifying the T-5 5 Speed

A: I don't know how to explain it either, but the vin codes even match. I do
know only the 6 cyls came with it. At any rate, the upgraded version is
available new from Advanced Adapter (last I checked)

Jim, everything I have including Jeep Catalog & Order forms for the 1980 to
1986 Service Manuals shows that the 1980 and 1981 jeeps used the T-176 or
T-18A Transmissions, even the Haynes and Chilton's repair manuals state the
T-5 was first offered in 1982 along with the T-176 and T-18A.

I'm not sure how the 80 to 81s noted below got the T-5.

A: There are at least 4 local '80-'82 FSJ pickups with T5 stock local to me
and maybe 10 more on the full size list. Maybe not World Class, but they are
fairly tough.
