A: Let me be the first to point out that it can happen. If you are like me and know enough to get by on pretty much anything mechanical on your AMC, that's one thing, but if you are just starting out (like I was about 30 years ago when I met "Uncle Larry") and someone verbally abuses you because of something you did to "your car" (note the operative words here. I mean other than putting Chev motors in AMCs because it's sacriledge... but still I joke. N'est pas?) it can push you to the point of disposing of your valued possesions, rather than be associated with that sort of behaviour. (like when I had my head verbally ripped off and crapped on because my car was a "POS and an abomination to all things AMC that should be hauled directly to the crusher!", even though it was bone stock, but from another country.) When one expects laudits, but recieves dung unfit to even fertilize a garden instead, you get discouraged. At 16 I turned away from almost all things AMC till a friend needed one worked on, and I was able to do what others couldn't or wouldn't, and instead received high praise and even monetary gratitude at a point when I had nothing more than what was between my ears to help me live. I didn't know everything, so I went online to learn more, whereupon I tripped over the AMC-list (I can't recall the name of the first site I originally posted to the list through, but I read a long story about an Eagle in need of a trans just before finding it) I have learned so much about Jeep EFI and other's experiences with AMCs and come into contact with many good friends (and E-friends) through the offshoot lists I heard about here. It all came about after I nearly lost my life 10 years ago (and 1 month!) I figured I was near useless with only 1 good eye (and double vision at that!) and 1 good ear after that car fell on me. Through this list I have been able to help, be helped and learned how to be useful again and build up my selfesteem enough to get where I am today, which is why it saddened me so much to see it go through the attacks and retaliations over and over. I left and came back several times (often due to lack of time) but I missed the camaraderie of this group when I was away. It's almost like a drunk, breaking away from the bottle, yet going back because I missed it. From: AMC74Hornet@xxxxxxxxx Subject: {FORGED?} Re: I'll be the 1st !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My son would be lucky to pry the papers for my 2 Hornet's out of my hands when I am dead never mind getting rid of them for the reeason's you stated. You are kidding weren't you?. Sorry to the spelling checker on the list if I misspelled anything, I only have a WEB TV and can't use the spell checker when I post directly to the list. Real AMC content I spent 4 hours this morning making a new gauge face plate for the factory gauge pod I am useing in my new Hornet's interior. It will have Auto meter gauges in it.
