Re: Oil pan needed for 360

Junkyard pans are literally everywhere out here on the Central Coast thanks to the FSJs with 360s. If you can't find one near you, let me know.

Subject: Oil pan needed for 360

Hello everyone:

Does anyone have a good V8 oil pan that they can part with? The pan on my 360 Matador took a major rock hit at some point in time. When I got the car on a hoist after hauling it home, I discovered the damage which was poorly repaired by brazing. The impact was so severe that the pan was partly crushed and the bottom four inches of the Torqueflite bell housing was broken off - exposing the ring gear.

The engine leaks a lot of oil when parked which makes me think that not only is the pan leaking but it is probably distorted at the rear main seal area which allows oil to leak out into the broken bell housing then onto the ground when parked. Engine and tranny both work very well however.

I can repair the bell housing by grafting on the bottom cut off a junk tranny but I don't think that the pan is worth the trouble of repairing it some more.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions,

John
