I've been finding lots of deals on Jeep 4.0 engines and
transmissions, my
step dad had one in a grand Cherokee and it ran like a top with
plenty of
power. Bet it would seriously move a Javelin. Any advice
regarding the
aw-4, do I have to find one from a 2wd jeep or can I use one just
sans
transfer case?
> Try www.car-parts.com for a '97 or newer 4.0
as these came thru with stronger upgraded blocks.
Find a '99 or newer Intake Manifold as these have
upgraded & larger plenums.
Do you want an Automatic or Stick ?
Toyota Supra use the Aisin transmission.......
I know the '95 Supra Turbo had a close ratio
standard trans 5 speed stick - my educated
guess is that the 2wd Toyota Supra Turbo
automatic would fit the bell housing of an
AW4 Jeep .
I think this is the most excited I've been in a while,
it's such a nice driving car, I can save up the money for the swap
while I drive it and do it over next winter. Any idea if jeep wrangler
headers will fit in a javelin?
> No, Wrangler headers are too long downward.
you can use the 1987 - 1990 Cherokee 4.0 exhaust
header - brace it up a bit before you install it.
Clifford has some Jav specific ones so
I'm not so sure.
> Be careful of Cliffords products - Jack Clifford is
with the Angels and the guy who took over is straight
out of Hack Job - B.S. agent.
I guess Kenny Bell makes a supercharger for the 4.0
Wrangler engine, it's way expensive but damn this would be a cool
way
to pop some eyes at a show.
> If you are a budding welder - you can get
a used Pontiac or Ford Supercharger & craft up
a sheet aluminum manifold adapter.
Thanks for everyone that's posted.
Oh the pizza cutter wheels and tires gotta go!
