Chevy rods

I've been following this thread with considerable interest. I have built
quite a few 401 AMC's with 2.100 inch rod journals, .927 pins and
aluminum rods and it makes for a great combination. If you don't
increase the stroke, the engine will internally balance with no Mallory
metal, the load on the main bearings is reduced considerably and the
crank will last about 3 times as long before cracks start to show up.
However, I do not recommend running "Chevy" rods as the offset between
cylinders is different and the rod will not end up in the middle of the
wrist pin. Have your rod supplier (I use GRP) correct the offset for you
when they build the rods. The rods I use look like a 6" SBC rod but they
are correct for an AMC.
