This latest article in Car Craft is reallyt the exact same engine they
built on Hot Rod T.V. However they have added some verbage to the
pictures to freshen it up.
J.T. Peyton builds a good AMC engine as a rule. This one bears that out.
I also know J.T. knows what is and is not right. So, if you caught the
''writers'' goof, understand that info did not ever come from any AMC guy.
Toward the end of the article the writer makes a huge boo boo. He states
that some 340 & 360 MOPAR front covers will fit the AMC V8.
Very, Very Wrong. I wonder where/how these guys' dream this stuff up??
Not a soul that Knows AMCs would ever have passed that tid bit to the
writer. This proves they writers]will ask anyone, even someone that has
no way of knowing about the cars, info for ''preparing]] their stories.
I am glad to see the ink for AMC. Sad they started another wrong AMC myth.
Also, this is at least the 3rd run for this story. Once pklus reruns on
T,.V., once in Hot Rod, now in Car Craft. The story is over 2 years old.
Since Prime Media has taken over the entire magazine industry, they have
gotten real bad about re-hashing old stories. The other AMC 500 h.p.
article has been in 4 different magazines in about 3 years.
Two questions come to mind,#1, How many times are they going to run the
Same story they already bought and paid for, while charging the
advertisers more and more money?? J.P. Magazines ad rates have
QUADRUPPLED since Prime Media took over. The ad rate went sky high, but
the advertisers are paying for RERUNS?? #2, since there Are other newer
AMC car and engine builfds, why not do some Fresh material and Pay for
another New story with all the money you are now raking in ?? Opps, #3,
How many times [if you are a subscriber to many magazines] do you as a
buyer want to be sold the same story over and over?? opps again, one
more question #4, If the price on the cover of every magazine you buy
went up FOUR times, How many would you be buying and would you want
re-runs for that price???
I personally feel Prime Media has not helped the Car Hobby as much as
it has helped its' self to some huge profits over what the magazine
industry once was.For the kind of increases they have had, we sure
should not be seeing re-hashed articles in every magazine they have
bought. They own over 80% of the market.
