Paint code C2A?

There was a AMC paint code C2= Color was Stardust Silver Metallic in 1972. 
Not sure why its here unless the C is for custom color request and the car 
was pulled after the car was painted BBG, and the factory repainted the 
outside for a special order.

This is a nice car but the engine bay is painted green and the car is Big
Bad Blue.  What I don't understand is the paint code.  I don't remember ever
seeing a paint code that started with a C.

What's the deal?
