Re: STROKER Engines

Ahem... For all those that were unaware, all 304 and 360 AMC engines use
the exact same 3.44 stroke. No stroke advantage at all to swap cranks
there.

Stock AMC strokes. 3.28 for 290 & 343, 3.44 for 304 & 360, 3.574 for
390, and 3.68 for 401.

Couple that with stock bores of 3.75 for 290 & 304, while the 4.08 bore
comes in the 343 & 360 engines with both the 390 and 401 sharing a 4.165
bore.

If you care to see what all sizes one can build with those, follow this
formula
BORE x BORE x STROKE x .7854 x 8 = CU.IN.

You can offset grind cranks and thus stroke or de-stroke them and you
can bore the block to come up with still more cu in sized AMC engines.
You can build from a 209 [AMC did that ] up to a 500 [INDY did that]
inch AMC engine.

So grab the old calculator and build all the Paper Tigers you want.

Before anyone gets mad, this is not meant to belittle anyone, it is
meant to inform and motivate those that have intrest in possible AMC
engine combos. For those that seem to read something I don't mean, I
simply stated, Here is the info, now go figure the combinations out you
want to know about. I added what size engines have already been built.

Randy Guynn
