Stopped by the magazine rack at Wal-Mart today, picked up an issue of Muscle Car Review, put out by the same publisher as Hot Rod, Car Craft, anyway great story about Pete's Patriot you know the SS/AMX. Apparently when it was sold to some less than reputable people it was turned into a bracket car and may even have had the ultimate desecration done to it! Of all things the article stated that a big block c**vy may have been in it at one time. Oh well it's been completely redone now with a bad ass 390 that kicked butt on all the off brands at the Beaver Springs Dragway with the original driver back in the seat. Yep Mr. Lou Downing after having not drive a drag car since the 70s put the car solidly into the final round were he finally got beat. Not bad for a old guy in an old car, huh. There is some truth to the story that we don't get old we get faster. Now if one of these muscle mags will just pick up an article about #6 Donohue's 70 Javelin, I for one will be in AMC heaven what with the latest issue of Car Craft all emblazoned with AMC stuff too. My hat is off to Mr. Mike Pearce for saving the Pete's Patriot from a sad demise, and resurrecting it to it's former glory in both appearance and performance. I would also like to compliment the guy who resurrected #6, but I don't know his name. Armand
