Re: Cobra engine into AMX

While normally I despise engine swaps involving dissimilar manufacturers, in
this situation I think you would be justified in making the Cobra engine
swap into the AMX. As you pointed out, you have a gutted car body enginewise
with a perfectly good driveline sitting there waiting for a home. At least
it's still an AMC on the road.

I feel you're going to encounter quite a few modification issues making the
Ford engine work in the AMC (plus the upgrades to add EFI, etc), but it
should make for a screamer once it's done.

Just make sure you do it "right", or you will likely be taken to task for
haphazard work. A clean installation that looks and runs good can often be
forgiven many things...such as being FoMoCo :-)

Besides, a lot of people forget that the primary modifications involved in
such an engine swap are concentrated around (replaceable!) crossmembers, and
oftentimes a car can easily be converted back to an stock drivetrain with
minimal effort. It's not like the firewall and shock towers will be hacked
on and rearranged to accommodate a Viper V10 or some Hemi or Boss 429-style
engine. *That* sort of swap would somewhat limit a return to stock :-)

Good luck!
