You're correct Joe, but I'm fixing that problem shortly after I get back to the US. I've been working on an ID book specifically for AMC vehicles in my spare time over here. Which is where I need a little help. I have samples of a couple of the door ID plates, but none after the early 70s. The plate and format didn't change much, but the TEXT MESSAGE on the plates did. What I need is the text from a mid 72-75 car, 78-80, 83-85, and an 87-88. From there I'll try to narrow it down as to when the text on one started and the other ended. Won't hurt to have the text from all years 70-88. If you can get to your car how about posting the text message? Just post the year and first 2-3 lines so the list doesn't get clogged up, and check to see if someone else has already posted your year. When I figure out what years the text changed I'll e-mail one of you and get the full text. Or e-mail me directly. I have everything prior to 1970, not many changes. This info should be in the front of the TSMs, to bad I can't get to my collection! -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Independent Magazine" (AIM) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AIM.html (free download available!) -------------- Original message ---------------------- > From: "Joe Wyatt" <jwyatt@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > Subject: Vehicle ID Numbers > Date: Tue, 28 Dec 2004 12:52:50 -0600 > > Yes, but its not easy to have that info when looking through junk yards, The > books give all the Body Number Plate info for each vehicle, > Body-Model-Trim-Paint, the books go through trim codes for each > veh=Cloth-Vinyl-Lether and the paint code/colors.
