Since I have to spend half of next week in NYC, I have to spend half of
today in the office. If that's not bad enough, I have to read funny car
stories. Why not keep the AMC car fun (scroll down to read the caption)

on track? Glenn gave directions to a library; I'll point at a shelf.

Dana is a company that designs and builds rear ends, along with other
related parts. They are at this point owned by Chrysler, Benz, or
whoever MOPAR is right now.

Read one good book tonight. One that begins by naming a Jeep, ends by
showing a Hudson and quotes a Nash along the way. Page 15. 90 years later,
change his words to: "We'll make an auto historian of you yet."

If numbers mean more than words, grab your green eyeshade.

Add it all up. AMC experts and fans should aim higher. Their rep isn't
sterling, their books aren't platinum and their anniversary year has not
proved golden. Many makes get more "special" note than AMC did in 2004,
whether they're alive or dead. Many makes make many AMC moments appear more
dumb than dull. Many makes make more success from their "failures" than AMC
makes from its "successes." Edsel Pacer or AMC Pacer? Cool or cool? I've
known AMC since the '60s, owned AMC since the '70s, struck a few balls in
this stadium for eight years and watched the scoreboard. I think the fans
are happy with the home team --- but they don't know how it plays on the
road.

Maybe that's why some ---

who spend $100,000+ on

don't spend $10,000+ on

(look again and

you shall see),

let alone spend a new "bellybutton car"

$150,000+ on a "one of few" rarer AMC.

Work 'em wisely or watch 'em fade away: muscle-, brain- AND horsepower.

Disclosure: This pitch was hit (and writ) without the use of any illegal
substances. Flaxseed oil ["clear"] and arthritis rub ["cream"] were not
required to anoint (and annoy) ticket holders. No testing was performed on
laboratory animals or green monsters. No refunds can be given today.

After you heed Charlie's words of 1914, think ahead ten years. An event
that took place around now (from late October to the first of December),
changed the course of American (and American Motors) automotive history.

What was it?
