I must of missed a post or two, but my Plans for my 65 Ambassador Conv, include a Jeep Vigilante 327 with 37,000 original miles and a turbo 400 from the same Jeep. I already bought the engine and trans off of Ebay for $280!!! No one wanted to bid it up because it was too heavy ship cheaply and it was only a 5 hour drive so I bought it! I'm still undecided on Rear axle yet. Probably something on the lines of a 9" or Chrysler with removable third member as I want to stay low tech with it. After these last two years of trying to get the American put together I'm not about to try to go the same route on the Convertible! I am toying with the idea of doing it as a LPG/Propane only vehicle as it will be a cruiser and with direction fuel cost are heading I'd like to try it as a primary fuel on something like the high torque 327. Hmmm.. I wonder what it would take to mount that TH400 in the Ambassador and convert it to a floor-shifter?
