Yes, I can argue with the dictionary on this point! Webster's (and other dictionary companies) does research and gives definitions for COMMON USAGE, not technical accuracy. Commonly, engine and motor are used interchangeably. I haveto admit that in reality, only an engineer would really note any difference between the two. Find a technical or engineering term dictionary and you should find different definitions for a motor and engine. Of course the two terms have become so intertwined that a thoroughly modern engineering dictionary may not distinguish between the two terms anymore.
