Re: How to repair pinholes in oil pan

I have used a product that is carried usually in a plumbing supply house called Pro Poxy 20, it is a metal based paste epoxy that cures fully in under an hour, can be sanded, drilled, threaded, and bolts can be torqued into it. Have repaired oil pans, radiators, power steering pumps, axles, manifold bolt holes, gas tanks, and various other items without a single failure. Made by Hercules Chemical co., Inc.

I have tried for years to buy direct from them, they refuse to do so unless you are a liscensed plumber or plumbing distributor, so I still order mine from Standard Plumbing Supply, in Brigham City, Utah (435) 723-7744, just got 4 more tubes in the mail today, runs a little over $10 a tube.

try it, you'll like it.

The saga continues for my 83 258 rebuild. Picked up
the block at the machine shop and they showed me a
pinhole that had developed in the oil pan near the
drein plug. There are several other beginnigs of
holes that haven't gone all the way through. Their welder said the metal was not thick enough to
weld w/o warping or burning a bigger hole. I was
thinking about just using my MAPP gas to heat the
metal and then filling the holes with solder, possibly
using the JB Weld stuff or gas tank repair material. Anyone done this before or have other suggestions? Thanks.
