Re: automatic transmission question

" From: farna@xxxxxxx

" Yes, the trans will work. These aren't hard trannys to rebuild.
" Provided no hard parts are needed (drums, gears, etc.) they aren't
" expensive to rebuild either. It should be a Borg Warner model 35 or
" 37. Volvo used similar B-W tranmissions up to the mid 80s (model 65).

forgot about that!

others besides volvo used aluminum warners - bmw for ex. used 35s,
51s, 55s, and 65s. also jag iirc. in the '70s and well into the '80s
europe had very few home-grown auto trannies and many bought the
warners.

volvo now uses the aisin-warner aw4 in their rwd cars, and for a long
time the same zf auto as the amc-renault premier in their fwd cars.

" You can still get a rebuild kit. Look for someone familiar with the
" Ford FMX and Volvo auto transmissions. They would find it familiar.

good advice.
