According to the 74 TSM no cats were used on any AMC in 74. Only certain models used the Air Guard (air pump) system. All V-8s EXCEPT the 304 in Hornet/Gremlin/Javelin models with auto trans had the air pump. -------------------- Date: Mon, 10 Sep 2012 12:25:02 -0700 (PDT) From: Marty Bricker<mbrickerusn@xxxxxxxxx> My 74 Javelin/AMX was originally equipped with the 304 and it still has the 'non-catalyst' sticker on the drivers door and did not have an air pump.? I believe the 360 and 401 did have the air pump and converters. ------original message---------- Jeff, maybe you are thinking 1974? According to the 75 TSM: "Catalytic converters are used on all California cars, Nationwide cars equipped with V-8 engines, and Nationwide 10-80 Series [Matador/Ambassador] cars equipped with six-cylinder engines and manual transmissions. Remaining Nationwide cars do not require a converter." -- Frank Swygert Editor - American Motors Cars Magazine www.amc-mag.com _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
