Ken,I'm sorry, but this is a bad situation for Rambler mentality. That switch is probably rated for 15A @ 110VAC. It's DC amperage rating is probably much lower. In fact, most light switches are not designed for DC at all. DC tends to arc across the contacts much easier than AC. How many amps is your tester rated for? I bet it's way more than 15. 100? 200? Go find a switch with the proper DC amperage rating for this application.
