John,I think youre reading the digest style mail from the list. Or possibly I replied somehow without knowing I did.
But take Joe's suggestion, American Parts Depot has a lot of good parts. As another thought, I believe the shifter was made by Hurst, maybe they still have bushings too.

Hello everyone,I'm in the process of restoring my 68 AMX and currently I'm rebuilding the BW T10 along with the shifter and linkage.I have just discovered that where the shifter rod bolts to the shifter assembly there are 2 rubber bushings that are totally shot!!! I guess these bushings reduce the vibration etc. felt by your hand on the shifter ball.Does anyone know where I can obtain these, or suggest an alternate repair? Thanks, John ________________________________________From: amc-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [amc-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] on behalf of amc-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [amc-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]Sent: Tuesday, October 18, 2011 3:00 PM To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: AMC-list Digest, Vol 31, Issue 30 Send AMC-list mailing list submissions to amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to amc-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx You can reach the person managing the list at amc-list-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of AMC-list digest..." When asked of a hometown machinist to work on AMC engine pieces, his comment pretty much went like this. "You mean this isn't a chevy 350? I'm not sure what you're talking about, AMC? All the engines around here that we work on are 350 chevies. I didn't know any other engines ever needed a rebuild.............OH, wait a minute, we work on tractor engine parts here too. We mostly turn cranks, size rods and do heads cause those blocks usually have wet sleeves. but wait I'll ask 'turbo' if he knows anything about AMC." response from 'turbo', "Yeah I heard of AMC, that's American Movie Classics on channel 69" Sigh, I finally did find a great machinist in a little town South of here who knew exactly what an AMC is and said, "Yeah bring it down we'll work on it for you." I suggest that you pull on spark plug and insert a long piece of rope (3/8th inch cotton or nylon will work).?? The rope will act to cushion the piston against the cylinder head and jam the piston so the crank can't turn.? Leave one end of the rope sticking out of the spark plug hole so you can remove it easily when you have removed the flexplate.
