Here's an update on this message,

I found the little c clip that went flying through the air and landed I knew 
not where until now.  I can't believe I found it.

P.S. I purchased a twin grip spyder gear kit from drivetrain_parts, (ebay) 
the parts are made by Omix-Ada, I'll let you know how they look when I get 
them.
