Re: [AMC-list] When replacing door and trunk gaskets, ...

Bruce,

There should be a small metal triangle with a screw in it in the area near the door handle. If you do end up using glue (I think there was some glue on my 68 -- you should be able to tell if yours was glued or not), make sure that you only put it on the window frame. The reason for this is so you can remove the window frame if needed without messing up the weatherstrip.

Thanks. These are new, came from Galvins, and seem to fit well. There
are a few places where they are a little loose (near where the door
handle is). I wasn't sure if we should remove them and use some
adhesive, or just use a little where it is loose.

Don't know if you found a rear window gasket. Kevin e-mailed Mac McCoy
and hopefully we'll be in business. Peter Stathes for the front
gasket, Galvin's for the doors and trunk, Mac for the rear gasket
(hopefully). Lol - we're trying to visit each shop. I know I got stuff
from Kennedy's a while back - but we've never checked out Blaser's
yet.

By the time the Rambler's done, hopefully we'll have supported each
vendor in some small way.

If you have a new gasket (door gasket specifically) with the new fastners, you
shouldn't need to use much if any glue. I just did that same job on the front
doors of my Rambler (just like yours) and I don't recall using any weatherstrip
adhesive. I think my gasket came from Metro Molded parts.

When you replace the door and trunk gaskets, do you just use the press
fit, or do you glue them as well? There are a few spots on the door
where the seals need a touch of glue - just wondering if I should
remove and glue the whole thing.
