64-69 American setup will work -- need all parts and a working one, as Mark pointed out. The Escort motor mentioned is a European Escort motor. I made another motor fit my car as well (63 Classic), but had an original electric setup that quit to work with. There was no electric option in 63, appeared in 64, but 63-66 big cars are the same. The article describing use of a Ford Escort wiper motor is on the AMC Club Finland site in the Tech Info section (www.amccf.com). I did a little research and found that the 80-90 Euro Escort Mark III and 81-90 US Escort are very similar, but not quite identical (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Escort_%28Europe%29#Ford_Escort_Mark_III_.281980.E2.80.931986.29). The wiper motors may be the same, but any small car 80s Ford wiper motor will be similar. I used a Tempo motor in my car. I made a new plate and mounted the motor on that, modifying the original electric motor arm. The arm could be a bit longer for better sweep, but the early 60s Ramblers didn't wipe all the windshield, just enough to see! I may have lost a little coverage from the original motor, but not much. ------------- Date: Sat, 18 Dec 2010 18:48:35 +0000 (UTC) From: Wrambler<wrambler242@xxxxxxxxxxx> they did have the option. you must find a complete setup, arms, mounting plate, motor, switch. then you have to hope it works. Rumor has it that a mid 80's escort motor is a fairly easy swap using the vacuum arms and plate. I converted mine, but it would be difficult to duplicate what I used. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://www.amc-mag.com (free download available!) _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
