The arms are longer on the Ford Twin Traction Beam, but the u-joint is still in the center. I suppose there would still be a bit less impact on camber though. I don't have any real data, but the IFS did cost a bit more and there was little demand. In the early 60s these were considered "trucks", and trucks were meant for work, not play! The Super Wagoneer didn't appear until 66. That was the first "dressed up" version intended for more street use. The IFS would probably have sold better on them. -------------- Date: Sun, 6 Jun 2010 17:25:42 +0000 (UTC) From: Wrambler<wrambler242@xxxxxxxxxxx> while the system may look better/more compact the shorter swing arms would have a larger impact on camber change throughout the arc of travel. it'd be interesting to know what import of data, cost or real world use caused Jeep to back off and stop using the system. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://www.amc-mag.com (free download available!) _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
