i got to thinking. (dangerous most of the time) you could do it pretty cheap, be strong and safe. go buy one of those reece bumper mount hitches at wally world. but, i wouldnt bolt it to the bumper, as russ said, they are kinda thin. it is flat on the top if i remember correctly. what i would do, is go to your local hardware store, or where ever you have there, and get a piece of 3/8 or so angle iron. cut to length of the width of your frame rails. you can bolt or weld it to your frame rails, and weld the "bumper" hitch to the angle iron cross brace. that should be enough for your light trailer, even after it was loaded. i reccomend you do as i did on casper AND rosie however. rosie (63 american) had a hitch, but it got tore most of the way off. had 3/8 bolts going from the trunk floor, down to the cross member, and they were pulled thru the floor. i fixed the ripped trunk floor, and then got some 2x2 square 3/8 thick flat stock. drilled 1/2" hole, and used 1/2 grade 8 bolts. if you do it this way, you will want to spread that load out as much as possible. if you would like, i can send you pics of rosies, and caspers. the style i am thinking of is a little of both what i built for casper, and what rosies original hitch are. i have a Scamp 16' fiberglass that weighs 1200, with 120# toung weight. i think both of my hitches should be more than enoughfor that thing.
