Re: [AMC-list] Mirror Removal

How about a flexible screwdriver? I've used a tool like this many times with great success in similar situations. Typically, you'll need to break the screws loose with a conventional screwdriver of some type, as the spring shaft on these jobs are not particularly great at that task. But once loosened a bit, these babies are great.

A sample of one of these tools is the Stanley 62-508 Multi-Bit Flexdriver:

which sells for around $12.00 at Amazon.com, Sears lists it for around $13.00.

I know I'm coming into this one a day late, so if you haven't solved the
issue here's your answer. You'll need to follow Neil's suggestion of moving
the mirror all the way over. What I did next was to cut the shaft of a
phillips screwdriver and weld it at an angle I found to work just correct.
It was still a bit of a struggle but the angled driver is the key. worked on
my 70 Javelin, both sides remote and non remote mirror.

Yeah, I should have said what kind it was it is the sport mirror. I
have tried to get a screw driver in there but I can not get the right
angle on it.
Is the the way they are supposed to come apart?
