Everyone I recall buying nowadays has thin as drool post Maybe I shoudl check out Accell. I'm running my cleaned up used job for now, it's good enough. > I wonder, did they cut back the post side and not increase the rotor length to allow it to be used in either new or old caps? The bottom line is, I think, that cars older than the late 80's maybe are .00001% of the market, replacement parts corps just don't care about the old stuff, no one pays attention to errors from consolidated catalogs, engineering changes like thinning metal, etc. It probably sounds like I'm whining, but I'm not really. We're basically driving Model A's and not really in a spot to complain about it! Our cars are unbelievably unique these days. Pretty much any time I encounter ANY 60's car on the highway we always do some 'old car solidaroty' routine, nod, wave, beep, etc. We're all wierdos! > Is your ignition going to be totally dist less? If it is going to use the dist don't forget you will proly need a wide tip rotor to allow the spark to get to the correct post during advanced/retarded situations. I adapted a 6cyl Ford EDIS wheel and pickup to the 195.6 while it was out of the car, a hell of a lot easier! I'll do the electronics later. Since it's a totally separate system you can make both work simultaneously then just switch the wires. The Classic has a 79? distrib with TFI. The rotor has the weird wide contact, looks like a scimitar. The cap has a tiny little nub, yeah, they used to be WIDE brass, now it's like fat wire. I'm surprised no one's done an EDIS adapt for the 232/258. It seems like a no brainer. Maybe I should think about making up a kit and selling it. This guy here sells a parts kit that does it all, you adapt. I bought the wheel and sensor for now. http://www.boostengineering.net/category_s/3.htm good EDIS info http://www.autosportlabs.net/Ford_EDIS_technical_information _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
