[AMC-list] WHAT LUBE TO USE IN A T-5



I BOUGHT AN '87 EAGLE 5 SPEED CAR NEW.  THERE WAS NOTICE I RECIEVED , I THINK BY MAIL, SUGGESTING PUTTING DEXTRON IN INSTEAD OF GEAR LUBE, TO COMBAT DIFFICULT SHIFTING IN COLD OHIO WINTERS.  I REPLACED THE ORIGINAL WITH 85W90 FULL SYNTHETIC, AND WOULD LET IT IDLE IN NEUTRAL ON REALLY COLE DAYS, AND ALWAYS SLIP IT DOWN INTO FIRST JUST BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND NEVER FELT IT WAS HARD TO SHIFT.  1 TO 2 WAS ALWAYS A LITTLE DIFFICULT IN COLD TEMPS, UNLES YOU WENT A LITTLE FASTER BEFORE YOU SHIFTED, AND PUT IT IN 2 QUICKLY.  
MY '83 WITH 318,000 MILES STILL IS A LITTLE FUNNY FEELING ON A 1 TO 2 SHIFT IN COLD WEATHER.  I WAS MORE WORRIED ABOUT IT NOT WEARING OUT THAN EASY SHIFTING THOUGH.  LOVE MY 5 SPEED CARS..

ANOTHER FUNNY NOTE ON LUBE, THE BOOK GOT MY '80 EAGLE SAYE USE 10W40 IN THE TRANSFER CASE...  GUESS THEY PROBABLY CHANGED TO DEXTRON WHEN THE 2/4 WHEEL DRIVE OPTION CAME OUT.  
I STARTED THE BADLY RUSTED '80 4 DOOR PARTS CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR.  SHE RAN PERFECTLY.. . A GARTER SNAKE UNDER THE FRONT SEAT DIDN'T LIKE IT THOUGH.  AND A RAT HAD STORED TONS OF MAPLE SEEDS AROUND THE TOP ON THE ENGINE..  AGAIN..
