i have a friend who has welded several tanks. i thought i would have to fix
one so asked him his way. he takes a shop-vac and sucks out, and an air line
from the compressor going in the sending unit hole. then, after it "smells"
clean, he puts his extra argon tank with an old hose from an old welder
pumping argon into it while he welds it. i dont know why it wouldnt be ok to
just leave either the shop-vac, or an air line blowing in while you weld. it
takes a certain amount of fumes to be flamable, and once they are gone, there
aint enough left.
