It does indirectly.  On my 83 Spirit anyway, the ignition module, the 
distibutor, and the carburetor were all connected to the computer.  So if 
the ignition module connects directly to the distributor, there must not be 
a computer, which means it's a non-stepper motor carb.  This assumes 
unmodified factory wiring, of course.

I don't think the distributor wiring has any influence on the carburetor 
wiring.
