I have been away for awhile and got back with you guys a month ago. Good to see AMC chatter. I have a 360 in a Concorde that originally was a 304. It was running rough and I finally narrowed it down to the coil being bad. So that gave me a good excuse to go to an MSD ignition set-up. It runs real nice and after setting up the distributor and hot-box I pulled out the dipstick to check things out. I found water in the oil!! Not good. I thought it was the PVC grommet as when I opened the hood, water dripped at that area. So I changed the oil and grommet, new PVC and fired it up. Ran real nice and I shut it down to check the oil, water in it again! In 5 minutes running it gained 1/2 qt of oil. So I did the following; plugs are dry, a little sooty. Dry compression says 135-145 with no noticable increase when checked wet. It runs good, no misfires or anything. Pulled of the rocker covers and foam everywhere, nothing noticable. I started to pull the intake and the passenger center bolts were real loose, only finger tight. I noticed a lot of goop on every gasket surface like they were afraid of leaks. I pulled the intake and the galley looks nice, but foamy. So I cleaned everything, and will replace the intake gasket. Anything else to check before I button it up. I pulled the lifters (yeah, keeping them in order) and everything looks new or low miles. There is no sign of oil in the water. I've only had the car 3 months or so........Russ _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
