i did this exact same thing on my 62 classic. i have pics posted of how it went on my link below. i beleive i posted how to wire it up also to make the "gen" light work correctly. (lights when it is not charging) i found a guy who sold the brackets to mount same as the old generator, but mounted the alternator in its place. you will have to get a new belt also if i remember right. you will want to take out the old main charge wire that sends the power to the battery. the generator only puts out i think something like 25-30 amps i think. the gm 10si style alternator i got is a 60 or 80 amp, so it will put alot more power to the battery. you will want a bigger chargewire. it was quite easy really. dave stohler
