[AMC-list] Valve Guide Seals

Hi Bruce,

Another sign of valve seals is typically right at start up, blue smoke then clears up after a few seconds as well as when you hit the gas pedal, you get a cloud of blue and then it goes away, valve seals.  Rings will blow blue smoke almost all of the time the engine is running. and typically fouls plugs regularly unless the problem is slight.

An easy test to check if it's guides or rings is,,,
(only works on non-convertor cars)
Warm up the engine and set the idle at about 2500 RPM let it run for several
(about 10) minutes watching the exhaust (a sunny day works best). If the
engine starts smoking then it goes away it's probably the valve seals. If
the smoking continues at a pretty steady rate it's probably the rings.
Not foolproof but it gives you a pretty good idea.
But HEY,,, that's just me!!
