I also have an American locking gas cap, Brand new with key. It is in an unmarked cardboard box so I suspect it is aftermarket. Since I do not know what fuel neck I am using in my trunk fill custom neck. Is there anyway to tell what year American my cap fits? It is a chrome V cap. I've never tried to sell it as I have no idea what year it fits or its value. Stolen gas....bad, bad. The fuel filler neck changed sometime during the 1968 model year. Also, the tail panel on 1966 Americans is a one year only deal so there's a chance it will not fit anything newer.
