Bruce, It's great to hear of your sons progress. From your posts it's very apparent that he is one hell of a fighter. The prudent thing to do is take the radiator to the radiator shop and maybe they can fix the leak while you wait. JB Weld definitely has its uses but radiator repair probably isn't one of them. I know lots of people have had acceptable results when using stop leak, but its usually for a stop gap answer or right before trading the POS off. Nothing beats the reliability of a properly repaired radiator. The white Javelin until recently has had it's original 39 year old 13 lb cap, that would sometimes develop some pressure and sometimes it wouldn't. The car never overheated. It would make sounds sometimes when it got shut off after a cruise, but that's about it. I should mention that the car doesn't get run very hard most of the time. Recently the original radiator began leaking again so I swapped in a different radiator. I couldn't find a "good" cap such as high quality Stant or a Gates. Gates sold that part of its business and the only Stant I could find was a made in china one with the stant name on it. Any way the cheapy works, and I drove the Javelin on a 60 mile round trip last Friday evening with no glitches. I was very happy to not have a puddle of green under the car with all the brand X competition alongside us. The Javelin definitely attracted a lot of attention, and once again it was the only AMC at the show and shine. I'm still looking for a better cap, so if anybody has any suggestions on what they've found please let me know.
