What lb cap are you running? It's a cheater fix, but I have had good results running as little as 7lb caps when I have had seepage problems with old radiators. In you area in summer, eh, maybe not. But...I thought I'd throw it out there. If, you have a higher lb cap and use the stop leak sometimes the pressure can force it through. The 7lb will not push on the stop leak as much! Make double, triple sure you have the heater core valve closed if you can! Don't really need the heater core getting plugged with stopleak! Remember too much stopleak = stopped up cores! if it is just seeping at the neck, you may be best to run it by that rad shop! How's your boy doing? Tell him to hang in there, it takes while to get back on ones feet after this kind of stuff! That's a relief (sweet smell, dry plugs) I was running around in the Rambler American and noticed a sweet smell in the engine bay after hitting a few stores. Okay, I'm goofy. I open the hood, check for leaks, check the oil and do a sniff test fairly often. It smelled sweet. After popping the head off twice, I got a little discouraged. Drove it home. It ran rough. I wandered out today and pulled the plugs. They are all dry. Phew! A little rich-looking, but dry. There is a small leak on the top of the radiator under the cap. It's normally just fine, but when the car gets up to temperature, it leaks a few drops. I guess when doing 45-50MPH, it's just enough to get on the engine and give me a sweet smell. Anyway, it's off for some JB Weld. Don't think I'll bother heading to the radiator service company - probably just pop some JB Weld bubble gum on it. I'm guessing the rough running simply means I better pay more attention to timing and other assorted normal maintenance stuff. _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
