Re: [AMC-list] speedo cable adapters

It's not easy using a floor shifter with an OD! Would the top loader shifter from an old Jeep work? I'm pretty sure some of the Willys models (CJ-3?) used a T-96 with a top loaded shifter in place of the cover, but not 100% on that. Would probably be too far forward though.
I found a couple places for right angle speedo drives:
http://www.speedometersolutions.com/speedometer_cable.htm
(no on-line ordering, call -- they do have right angle drives!)
http://www.texasindustrialelectric.com/speedo.asp
(no on-line order, but the y do show a pic of the adapter)

Check local Harley shops too -- they may have a right angle drive and can make a custom cable (or order one/both). You might want to check www.speedwaymotors.com too, they often have things like that.

does anyone know of a 90 degree adapter to fit into the speedo gear hole? with
my floor shifter, i cant fit my speedo cable into the hole. it blocks it. i
either need a 90 degree thingy, or to cut a slit in the shifter bracket. i
have already cut a pretty good amount out of the shifter to clear the o/d
solenoid and other things. or maybe anyone knows of another floor shifter
that is more compact than the "daytona truck" shifter i am using?
