My son has a 97 Cavalier Z-24. We installed a stainless steel header and exhaust on the car. The header had a ball end and a "socket" on the down pipe. It had two three bolt flanges that held it together. I thought for sure it would be a leaky spot, but it's been well over a year since we installed the stainless exhaust and so far so good. Oh I guess what I was getting at is that the ball end is still around and some fabrication shops still use it.............but might be difficult to find one.
