I've never understood how the tinted band bothered people.
I'm 6'2" and like the reduced eye strain from not having to stare into the sun or head lamps from oncomIng traffic.

i hate it. i'm tall enough that it's at eye level.
when i had to replace my rambler's windshield about 10 years ago, the
new one came with the tinted band. it hadn't occurred to me to ask,
because in 2 decades [then] of driving ramblers and going to amc car
shows i'd never seen one.
the car doesn't have visors, removed by some previous owner. i've
never missed them. the tint makes me slump, and that's uncomfortable.
