I'd have to have a liquid cooled version torn apart on the bench to compare the two side by side to figure that out. If I ever get that lucky I'll do just that! Would be nice to write an article about adding liquid cooling to an air cooled model, if it's possible by drilling/tapping holes and adding a tube. If you converted a liquid cooled one to air cooling only that extra tube would have to be removed. It's a converter return tube, so the tranny fluid had alreay "made its rounds" and was cooled before it went back to the pan. Simply removing the tube and letting the fluid run back in the pan shouldn't be a problem. I can't think of any good reason to go to air cooling only now though. If I replaced and air cooled BW with one that had a liquid cooling option, I'd leave the air cooled converter in place and add a small liquid cooler as well. I don't think you can get trans fluid too cool! Might be sluggish to shift at first in really cold winter weather, but five minutes driving would cure that.

I am 100% posticely sure there are no plugged fitting holes in the trans I have or sold. I looked, hard, I even rubbed them and made a wish!!!  

Anyway, I know you would like to figure this out. I would like to know to! 
I even remember being about 17 and my dad passing on a 3 series that had the liquid cool feature! It was out in my uncles shed and free, but dad did not want to fool with running lines and a cooler to use it !!!  At the time I did not know what it was!

No harm in guessing at all, We just want to avoid starting a myth or set of rumours we can't substantiate! Now, everyone with a six cyl Rambler, go I.D. the trans!
