My auto tranny in the 65 Rambler has been overfilled for the last few weeks while I fix other things on the car. I changed the tranny fluid and put five quarts of new stuff in but when I checked it (not running) it was a least one quart over full. I realize now I should have drained the convertor too and checked it while it was running, and I'll do all that soon. BUT the overfull condition highlights the fact that the front seal and rear seal as well as the shifter shaft seals are subject to leaking. My garage floor has been very shiney for the last few weeks. I've looked at the TSMs but there isn't much about the shift shaft seal, especially. Front pump seal and especially the rear shaft seal are described more fully. What's involved in resealing the tranny? Should I call Mr. Goodwrench and tackle it myself?
