The 2.5 in my '86 Comanche with Renix TBI is plumbed to get hot water only when the heater is turned on. From: Joe Fulton Subject: Re: [Amc-list] WHat year 258's get water intake? Joe, I forget the > history of > yours, was it the original engine for your car? And if so > how's the > heated intake plumbed into the waterpump Mine has the original head from a 1965 engine with the intake plate from that engine. I was trying to figure out how it was plumbed too, and I suspect that it was plumbed in series with the heater hoses. Ergo, if you needed heat in the interior of the car, your intake needed heat to help vaporize the fuel. I knnow two data points does not a trend make, but since Bruce's car is a 1965 model too, maybe the heated intake was only available in 1965, perhaps due to some germinal pollution control rules. I have owned 1964 and 1963 196's and none of them had the heated intake.
