Aeons ago I too had a lousy time getting a Clifford to run well in "all weather" (and that was Massachusetts). Too hot, too cold... The AMC 1981-up water-jacketed aluminum intakes are GREAT. Don't think of it as 'water heated' or 'water cooled' -- think of it as TEMPERATURE STABILIZED. (Once warmed up) it's a constant temperature -- which is exactly what you need to get a carb tuned right. Plus it will save you 30 lbs of weight on the drivers side over that cast iron boat anchor. Plus, you can get 'em cheap from donor cars. Plus, there's more adapters for the BBD than the older carb bases if you don't like the BBD. I've got TBI on one, and a Weber on another. Corrosion is not a problem unless you do no cooling system maintenance. The one on my Hornet was corroded around the water spigots; the nipples were loose in the holes after I'd run a tap down 'em so I used epoxy. No sign of corrosion after three years. Here in Los Angeles I haven't bothered to hook up the electric heater that's in the bottom, but in truly cold places it woudl be a good idea. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
