I already ordered the black rust encapsulating paint from Eastwood. Right now my main goal is to stop the windshield from leaking and stopping any further rust at this time. I only plan on removing the vinyl top from the windshield pillars and 6-8 inches back from the top of the windshield. Money is tight and important things come first and cosmetics is not one of them at this moment. Due to the age of the car I wouldn't be surprised if the rear window leaked too. I see some evidence of rust around it too. The windshield and hatch window on my orange Hornet leaked when I bought it 5 years ago. The same guy that fixed it is going to do the Matador. I'd really like to have a new vinyl top installed but that won't be for a while. Probably late summer money permitting while I sort out some other maintenance and repair issues. One issue that just popped up that drives me nuts is the gas gauge has stopped working since I bought the car. I was told by the previous owner before I bou ght the car it worked. It appeared to work as the first place I went after picking up the car was to put some gas in it, now it doesn't.I guess I will have to do the usual check of the ground wire and gas gauge test.
